You probably have a Facebook page for your business. (If not, it’s a good idea to get one up and running.)
Assuming you already have a page, here are instructions on how to use a static iFrame to make your page stand out amongst Facebook’s utilitarian design.
First, go over to your page and login.
You should have some basic information and a few photos presenting who you are and what service you provide. The static iFrame is an application you can download directly from Facebook. Instead of searching for it in Facebook’s house of mirrors, I’ll provide the link: Static HTML: iframe tabs
It’s sometimes confusing to download apps in Facebook, so let’s go through this step by step, holding hands along the way. On the top of the page you’ll see a button for “Go To App.” Click there and a small box will appear asking if you’d like to add the app to your page. (Indeed you do.) Agree.
Now, on the left hand side of your page, you’ll see under the “Getting Started” menu, on the bottom, beneath the “photos” option, a star with the word “Welcome” and a link to edit. Click there. And if you have some experience with coding, you can add pictures, like buttons, and, basically, whatever your heart desires. Why not stick a small representation of your own site in there with some redirects? You can add CSS, HTML, and Javascript
Now, if you don’t see the app appear in the left nav. right from the start, you might have to close your browser and start it up again.
Here’s some great examples you can follow:
The Fader
Urban Outfitters
Rolling Stone Magazine
Anthropologie
